The mission of Friends of Rocky Mountain Robotics is to fundraise and support FIRST Team 662, Rocky Mountain Robotics which is the Academy School District 20 High School Robotics Team, located in Colorado Springs Colorado.

Rocky Mountain Robotics Mission Statement

The mission of Rocky Mountain Robotics is to promote collaboration between teachers, Student, and industry mentors to promote personal growth and community involvement in a fun and Challenging setting. Student will learn critical business, engineering, interpersonal and leadership skills and combine the best aspects of cooperation and competition while constructing and programming a robot to compete in the FIRST® Robotics Competition.

What is FIRST® Robotics?

FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, was founded in 1989 with 28 New Hampshire high school teams competing in a basic robotics competition. Since then, it has grown in over 3000 teams and over 75,000 students participating around the world. Founded by inventor and engineer Dean Kamen, FIRST inspires young people to participate and become leaders in science and technology through energizing mentor based programs that build life-long skills in science, engineering, technology and math (STEM). The program is meant to inspire innovation and encourage well-rounded life skills including teamwork, communication, acceptance, self-confidence, perseverance, trust, initiative and leadership.
